TV LINE INSPECTION
Sewer
pipe, water mains, drain lines, water wells, and electrical and TV
conduit can easily be inspected with our camera systems. Air
conditioning ducts, chimneys, hood vents, and crawl spaces under homes
can be viewed. A video picture is transmitted to the control module,
where a VCR makes a permanent record.

The
small cameras can fit into ducts 1.5 inches or greater. They are pushed
in on a stiff cable. The large camera (pictured to the left) is mounted on a crawler tractor.
It has cleats like a dozer, and is adjustable to view pipes from 8
inches to 36 inches in diameter.

For TV line inspection VIP has a
van equipped with an onboard computer that stores and creates DVD
videos of the inspected lines. The results are available instantly
for convenient review. Our technician prepares a report on the
camera's findings which is submitted with the DVD.
Maui
County sewer code now requires that all new sewer line be video
inspected before it is accepted by the sewer division. Inspection
insures there are no breaks, defective pipe, or "ponds" in the
line, which would cause maintenance problems later.
VIP is
excited by the fact that we can attach a small transmitter to the camera
that allows us to pinpoint from above, exactly where the camera is. This
is useful where there is a break in a line that needs to be repaired.
Instead of digging randomly, chasing a break, the transmitter allows
precision excavation exactly where the problem is. This can save a lot
of money in a roadway or parking lot.
We have
found that the camera is a great tool in removing grease and garbage from
large pipes. We have a truck mounted water jetter that cleans large
sewer lines. In theory, high pressure water cuts grease off the pipe and
the velocity...100 gallons per minute...flushes the cuttings out. Well,
we are putting the camera in one end of the pipe and the jetter in the
other. By doing that we can focus the cleaning energy on the section of
pipe that is plugged up. Without a camera, a jetter operator would run
the nozzle in and out of a line several times and assume it is clean.
Realistically, half of the energy is spent trying to clean pipe that is
already clean, while some other pipe section requires extra attention
and can create a problem even though the line has just been cleaned.
Valley
Isle Pumping can clean your pipes to restore flow. And, we can prove it
with a camera. We recently videoed sewer lines in a private subdivision.
A sewer overflow nearby with potential five figure fines motivated the
owners to video the lines to determine the condition. Some lines needed
cleaning. Some manholes were buried and had no access. The problems were
corrected and a video tape record proves these owners could not be a
part of a problem in the near future.
